Calligraphic Editor for Textile and Tile Pattern Design System

  • Conference paper

Part of the book series: Lecture Notes in Computer Science ((LNCS,volume 3031))

Abstract

This paper presents a calligraphic editor for tile and textile design. This editor is part of an integrated system for graphic design, and includes also structural edition and retrieval tools to exploit design pattern databases. Drawing and some commands for geometrical transformations are specified by means of freehand strokes. Paper describes both user interface and its implementation details. A detailed design example is presented, where an ornamental motive, belonging to a pattern design has been generated by the gestural interface. Then it is integrated in a textile design using structural edition tools, based on the scientific theory of symmetry groups.
