Abstract

With respect to the existed issues in the current operational numerical NWP system and research environment, a Meteorological Application Grid (MAG) was proposed based on Grid Computing. MAG mainly includes Resource Access Portal (RAP), Product Announcement Portal (PAP) and Research Collaborative Portal (RCP). RAP provides an approach to access geographically distributed resources. PAP disseminates service to the public and professional clients. While RCP offers a universal platform for scientists to develop NWP software, to share source codes, to register modules within the grid and to perform NWP experiments. Its implementation will upgrade the current operational NWP system effectively, realize the goal of the sharing of the computer powers, meteorological data and establish a remote collaborative environment.
