Abstract

The highly specialized nature of medical domains has increased the demand of consultation of medical specialists to solve certain therapeutic and diagnostic problems. This problem requires the development of complex Knowledge Acquisition tools to build this Knowledge Base (KB). In this work, we present a KB System for medical domains which has shown the benefits of approaching the KB design from a wider perspective, allowing users to provide, query and browse knowledge.

This work is supported by the Spanish MCYT under the project MEDICI: Outpatient monitoring for ischemic heart failure diagnosis and research. Tools for acquisition, visualization, integration and discovering of medical knowledge, project number TIC2003-09400-C04-01
