Abstract
This paper discusses preliminary work on an ongoing project aiming towards the development of a three-dimensional, emergent narrative environment driven by a hierarchical continuous planning system. In contrast to most existing similar systems, the proposed approach assumes the lack of a solid set of initial goals for the user agent and relies almost exclusively on the agent’s motivations, its internal physical, mental and emotional drives, to let the story emerge.
