Abstract

We describe the design and implementation of a portable debugger for PVM / MPI programs on IA64 cluster. The design is based on client-server model and uses existed sequential debugger gdb. Thus we make the debugger portable for most systems supported by gdb. The protocol used in client-server interactions is precisely designed to make it work well on both IA64 and other architecture. The debugger is implemented on IA64 architecture. It meets three general goals of High Performance Debugging Standard. In addition, its interface is easy to learn and to use.
