Abstract
We provide a short overview on the application of non- classical formal languages to linguistics. The paper focuses on the main achievements on formal language theory that have some impact on the description and explanation of natural language, points out the lack of mathematical tools to deal with some general branches of linguistics and suggests several computational theories that can help to construct a computational-friendly approach to language structure.
