Abstract
In this paper, we present two studies investigating the entrepreneurial challenges faced by companies in the Finnish software industry. The first study is based on telephone interviews conducted during the National Software Industry Survey in 2008. The second study was done in collaboration Growth Forum initiative in 2008. We collected data during three large seminars and numerous working group meetings. Qualitative analysis of the data from both studies suggest that growth is a major challenge for the firms and that managers’ growth motivation and managerial capabilities are the most important requirements for successful growth.
