Synthesis of PI–type Congestion Controller for AQM Router in TCP/AQM Network

  • Conference paper

Part of the book series: Lecture Notes in Computer Science ((LNTCS,volume 6328))

Abstract

This paper considers the problem of stabilizing network using a proportional-integral (PI) based congestion controller in active queue management (AQM) router, a necessary and sufficient condition on the network is determined for the existence of stabilizing PI controllers, which will present some general guidelines for the design of a stable PI AQM controller. The complete stabilizing set in the plain of proportional-integral gains can then be drawn and identified immediately based on the presented method, rather than computed mathematically. Finally, the results are illustrated by using MATLAB simulations, which demonstrates that it is able to choose an appropriate PI control parameter based on the stability conditions derived in this paper, to achieve satisfactory network performance.
