Abstract

Engineering design is the process of devising a system, component, or process to meet desired needs. It is well known that a decision making process and an integrated learning are important. The paper focuses on the robot engineering program of the Department of Robotics at Kanazawa Institute of Technology in Japan. The goal of the program is to integrate core / advanced knowledge and practical skills for making mechanical systems or robotic systems. After the introductory course in first three years the curriculum offers an integrated learning course called Design Project III. Students are able to get competence for designing, implementing and operating in robotic field. An outcome of Design Project III is also introduced in the paper.
