Abstract
Previous research on sensor network security considers homogeneous sensor networks, i.e. it assumes all sensors have the same capabilities. Many schemes designed for these networks suffer from high volume of communication and/or large storage requirements. In this paper, we propose the Dynamic Combinatorial Key Pre-distribution scheme (DCKP), which differentiates between sensors in accordance to their capabilities. DCKP makes use of the Exclusion-Basis System (EBS) and sensors’ location information. Performance evaluations demonstrate that DCKP is very efficient in terms of storage at a certain local connectivity, while at the same time is capable of providing better security.
