Abstract

High speed network environment causes an increment of network traffics. Video streaming service is especially increasing rapidly all over the world. However, a network infrastructure cannot support video streaming traffic sufficiently. This study suggested a bandwidth reservation mechanism using Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP). We referenced a Multiple Stream Reservation Protocol (MSRP). MSRP is a kind of bandwidth reservation protocol, it is studying in IEEE 802.1AVB. Proposed mechanism is similar MSRP, but we improved MSRP to handle bandwidth reservation fail situations which is not handling in original MSRP, so it is more stable for multicast video streaming service environment. We examined our suggestion with network simulator, OPNET, and compared an end-to-end delay with original multicast video streaming service and an end-to-end delay with using our bandwidth reservation.
