Quality Analysis of Conditional Replenishment Algorithm for Hybrid 3DTV with Mixed Resolution

Abstract

The perceived visual quality of the hybrid 3DTV system of which resolutions are not matched is dominated by the higher quality one. But the mismatch may be an issue when the quality gap between two views is quite substantial and the conditional replenishment algorithm was proposed to enhance the lower quality view by using disparity map as additional information. The focus of this paper is to analyze the PSNR performance of this algorithm and examine the effect of resolution mismatch. It is shown that the disparity map provided considerable PSNR gains but the spatial characteristics of 3D sequence affect the performance.
