The Implementation of the E-Learning Systems in Higher Education – Sharing the Work Experience from Petroleum-Gas University of Ploieşti

Abstract

In this paper there are presented the partial results obtained after the implementation of the European Social Fund Project entitled Development of the Universities’ Staff Skills in Order to Be Able to Use an E-learning System at Petroleum-Gas University of Ploieşti. The general objective of the project is to develop and modernize the initial educational and continuing professional system in order to cope with the challenges of the nowadays ever-changing society through an e-Learning system implemented by the University of Petroşani and a repository of e-courses, built by the trainees within PGU of Ploieşti.

Within the framework of the project, there have been realized two studies. The former analyzes the necessity of initiating and developing formation courses in the field of e-learning that are dedicated to the staff functioning within higher education and the latter deals with the impact of the project’s unrolling on PGU employees. The conclusions drawn from the research studies and the outcomes of the project reveal the active role of the e-Learning systems in the higher education from Romania and the increasing number of teachers that are currently using e-Learning in their professional activities.
