Zusammenfassung
Deformable models still suffer from deficiencies for objects with weak features, which is, e.g., the case in subcortical areas. In this work, an extension of a deformable model is presented, which improves the situation by introducing object appearance information into the model. This information is obtained by exploiting a partial object definition, which is provided by the user in advance to initialize the 3D deformable model. The effectiveness of the presented method is demonstrated in the context of a combined 2D live wire–3D active surface model (2DLW-3DASM) approach, which is applied to a set of phantoms. It is shown that the method improves the segmentation results significantly.
