Abstract
The paper explores the newly coined expression “hold zhu” in Chinese in terms of its origin, semantics and the reasons for its popularity, and forecasts its development in the future and its influence on Chinese language with a conclusion that a right attitude should be held for the new expressions like these in order that the vocabulary of Chinese language will be enriched and developed in a healthy way.
