Abstract
This paper discusses the addressing facilities and mechanisms required to support the operation of a general Transport Service. The concepts described result from discussion and development during the last five years amongst users of the British Post Office’s Experimental Packet Switched Service (EPSS) and intending users of their Packet Switched Service (PSS). The activities centred on the committee which has become Study Group 3 of the PSS User Forum.
