Summary
At conventional simulations (e.g. under use of the well-known simulation languages SIMSCRIPT or DYNAMO) appears the problem to find coefficients of difference equations by means of usual statistical analysises to reduce the amount of information. In general a loss of information is hereby accepted. On the other hand the MAPLIS outline provides one-or moredimensional matrices (tables) instead of scalar coefficients. A reduction of information can be abandoned because results of cross tabulations can be used immediately. It is to estimate by the model designer how many dimensions he thinks are necessary. The following example of a very simple model of a german school (“Kooperative Gesamtschule”) shows the characteristics of the MAPLIS language in short: possibilities to declare various types of models and variables and interactivity.
