Summary
For investigation of heart valves, arteries or segments of arteries, an experimental set up is required, which is easy to adapt and which allows to vary pressure and flow in physiologically range reproducible. The membrane throttle is an important feature to simulate the peripheral resistance in the circulatory model. It consists of an inflexible cylindrical case and an elastic tube in radial direction.
The peripheral resistance, the quotient from pressure loss and flow, is being measured for different control pressure in steady flow. Given a certain constant pressure and an actual flow, the peripheral resistance can be calculated about the Δp-Q-function.
