Zusammenfassung
Mit “Bildverstehen” bezeichnet man ein Teilgebiet der Künstlichen Intelligenz (KI), das sich mit dem Verarbeiten visueller Informationen befaßt. Der Begriff geht auf das englische “image understanding” zurück und hebt dabei hervor, daß es um das “Verstehen” von Bildern geht und nicht schlechthin um Bildverarbeitung - hier liegt der KI-Aspekt des Gebietes. Wenn in dem vorliegenden Beitrag Bildverarbeitungsprobleme mit Begriffen und Methoden der KI betrachtet werden, so hat dies mehrere Gründe. Zum einen ist es das erklärte Ziel dieses Bandes, wichtige Teilgebiete der KI darzustellen - damit ist der KI-Blickwinkel vorgegeben. Darüberhinaus ist jedoch zu bemerken, daB Fragestellungen aus dem Bereich Bildverarbeitung in den letzten Jahren zunehmend Gemeinsamkeiten mit KI-Fragestellungen gezeigt haben, etwa im Bereich der modellgesteuerten Objekterkennung oder der Strukturierung von Suchprozessen. Es ist eines der Ziele dieses Beitrags, diese Gemeinsamkeiten aufzuzeigen und damit den Zusammenhang voh Bildverarbeitung und KI zu verdeutlichen.
