Abstract
The Smalltalk-80 system is an interactive graphical programming and applications environment. In the system the language, graphical display, editors, programming tools, operating system features, and application programs are integrated by treating each in a consistent object-oriented manner. The object-orientation of the Smalltalk-80 language, in which all information structure is in the form of objects and all processing is in the form of message-sending, greatly facilitates this consistency of the system.
