Abstract
Non-stereotyped situations in databases originate from inconsistent or incomplete information. The task of handling these situations properly will be passed from application programs to database management systems, due to direct interaction between system and users, in particular in office, but as well in CAD/CAM and document retrieval applications. In this paper an attempt is made to specify those situations and present possible solutions.
