Zusammenfassung

Es werden die ziele für Aufbau und künftigen Betrieb eines Deutschen Forchungsnetzens DFN geschildert sowie die Kommunikationsdienste dargestellt, die im DFM realisiert und angeboten werden. Die wesentlichen Konzepte zum Betrieb eines solchen Forschungsnetzes werden Anbieter und Nutzer von Kommunikationsdiensten und Rechner-Resourcen. Für ein zentrales DFN-Management verbleiben wichtige Aufgaben wie Nutzerberatung, Informationsangebot, Protokolltest, Softwareverteilung und Softwarewartung, Organisation eines verteilten Nachrichtendienstes.

Abstract

The goals for building up a German Research Network DFN and the concepts for the future operation of it are discussed. DFN offers a set of communication services which are treated briefly. The basic concepts of DFN operation are the two-way relation between the Provider and the user of communication services and hard-/ software resources. There are some tasks remaining for a central DFN management, namely advice and information of user, protocol test and certification, sofware distribution and maintenance, organization of a distributed message service.
