Mit Bildschirmtext- (Btx-) Systemen wurden bisher speziell für Btx entwickelte und ausschließlich für Btx verwendbare Systeme bezeichnet. Eine Konfiguration dieser Art besteht aus einem Farbbildschirm mit zusätzlicher, Btx-spezifischer Hardware, einer Tastatur und (eventuell) Hintergrundspeicher.
