Summary

The use of computers for help in medical diagnostic needs algorithmic simulation models for the diagnostic process. Three classes of such models are discussed in the paper: models of propositional logic (including fuzzy-logic), classification models and decision models. Logic models were frequently used in former computer programs but should be replaced by decision models in future.
