Zusammenfassung
In his historical analysis of the wars since 1775 where guerilla warfare was used, Walter Laqueur [1] reveals that we have to make a fundamental distinction between a guerilla war directed to national aims and guerilla war directed to revolutionary aims. A war with national aims is defined as a conflict between a Resistance of an occupied country and the occupation forces of an aggressor. In a war with revolutionary aims, a minority of a country, be it an ethic (Basque), a religious (catholics in Ulster) or a social minority (minor party) uses guerilla warfare against the government of the country in question. Whereas the aim of the national guerilla war is to drive away the occupation forces, the revolutionary guerilla war aims at overthrowing the government and taking over the power. The next aim they are driving at is a change of the social and economic system.
