Summary
Implicit integration methods include the solution of nonlinear systems of equations. In SPICE the Jacobian is reloaded whenever it is needed. Therefore, explicit derivation formulas have to be available in the transistor models. Those formulas are evaluated in a complex loadstep. In Update methods, the Jacobian will not be rebuilt, but adapted by means of corrections. Advantages: in the transistor models there is no need for explicit derivation formulas, the loading process is simpified and in addition Update techniques are well-suited for vectorprocessing.
