Kurzfassung
Lokale Netze sind heutzutage integraler Bestandteil der Bürokommunikation und der Prozeβautomatisierung. Da die Anforderungen an Lokale Netze nach gröβeren Bandbreiten und kleineren Antwortzeiten deutlich zunehmen, werden augenblicklich neue Lokale Netze entwickelt. Diese zweite Generation von Lokalen Netzen wird Übertragungsraten von 100 Mbps und mehr unterstützen und Glasfaserübertragungsstrecken zwischen den einzelnen Stationen besitzten.
Neben verschiedenen Firmenprojekten entstehen bei den Standardisierungsgremien zwei unterschiedliche Standards: ein Doppelbus (DQDB) als IEEE 802.6 und ein Token Ring als FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface) bei ANSI.
Dieser Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit einer Weiterentwicklung des FDDI Standards, die sowohl Paketvermittlung (PS) als auch Durchschaltevermittlung (CS) mittels einer hybriden Struktur erlaubt. Neben dem funktionalen Aufbau der Stationen und des Rahmens werden die Protokolle für den durchschalte-und paketvermittelten Verkehr vorgestellt. Im zweiten Teil werden Möglichkeiten des CS-Bandbreitenmanagements speziell bei Mehrkanalrufen und das PS-Protokoll diskutiert und simulativ auf ihre Leistungsfähigkeit hin untersucht.
