Zusammenfassung
Die Hauptmerkmale einer modernen Entwicklungsumgebung, die eine modulare und abstrakte Ausdrucksweise erlaubt, werden in Beziehung zu einer erfolgreichen Vorgehensweise bei der Entwicklung großer Programmsysteme gesetzt. Die Umgebung ist Rationals R1000 Entwicklungssystem. Entwicklung wird als ein iterativer Prozeß diskutiert, der, ausgehend von sehr frühen Versionen, die möglichst die Architektur des gesamten Systems erfassen, über eine Reihe von Vervollständigungsschritten zum Erfolg des Projekts führt.
