Abstract

Space Data Network is a communication network which extends from ground via relay satellites to spacecraft. Due to the heterogeneity of the employed network technologies and the operational needs of spacecraft operation it provides a serious technological challenge in the fields of Distributed Systems, Network & Service Management, and Interconnection of High-Speed Networks. This paper gives an overview of the employed methods emphasizing on special modifications to terrestrial approaches to fulfill particular space related needs.
