Zusammenfassung
Seit nahezu 40 Jahren wird versucht, Computer nicht nur zum Rechnen, sondern auch zur Unterstützung und teilweise sogar als Ersatz für menschliche Lehrer einzusetzen. Es gab Phasen der Euphorie, die geprägt wurden durch große Projekte wie z.B. das PLATO-Projekt an der University of Illinois Mitte der 70er Jahre, die Projekte Athena am MIT [3], Andrew an der CMU [17], das HECTOR-Projekt an der Universität Karlsruhe [12,13], sowie das COSTOC-Projekt, über das hier berichtet wird (COSTOC = Computer Supported Teaching of Computer-Science).
