A Model to Simulate the Population Dynamics of the Codling Moth (Cydia Pomonella): Reproduction

Zusammenfassung

Es wird ein Modell zur Fortpflanzung des Apfelwicklers (Cydia pomonella) vorgestellt. Das Modell ist als ein System gewöhnlicher Differentialgleichungen formuliert, wobei jede Differentialgleichung einen Zustand der Tiere während der Fortpflanzung repräsentiert. Der der Kopulation vorausgehende Flug der Faltermännchen und die Eiablage sind klimaabhängig modelliert. Ein Modell für den Flug der Männchen konnte an Pheromonfallendaten angepasst werden; es ergibt sich eine starke Temperatur- aber keine signifikante Feuchteabhängigkeit. Erste Simulationen mit dem gesamten Fortpflanzungsmodell unter Benutzung von Parameterwerten, die durch ”tuning” des Modells erhalten wurden, zeigen eine befriedigende Übereinstimmung mit Daten abgelegter Eier.

Summary

We present a model for the reproduction of the codling moth (Cydia pomonella). It is formulated as a system of ODE’s, each ODE representing a certain status of the animal during reproduction. The flight of the male moths before copulation and the oviposition are modelled as climate dependent. The male moth flight model was fitted to pheromone trap data; it shows a strong temperature but no significant humidity dependence. First simulations with the complete reproduction model, using parameter values obtained by ”tuning”, show a satisfying correspondence to data of oviposited eggs.
