Zusammenfassung
Hypertextsysteme gewinnen eine immer größere Bedeutung im Bereich des elektronischen Publizierens. Für reale Anwendungen benötigt man dabei Systeme, die einerseits große Mengen von Dokumenten verwalten können, und andererseits viele Benutzer zulassen. Herkömmliche Hypertextsysteme erlauben dies im allgemeinen nicht. In der neueren Forschung wird jedoch diesem Problem jedoch mehr Aufmerksamkeit gewidmet. Dies hat zur Entwicklung sogenannter Hypertext-Maschinen geführt. Das sind Datenverwaltungssysteme, die die speziellen Anforderungen von Hypertextsystemen berücksichtigen. In diesem Papier beschreiben wir zunächst allgemein die Anforderungen an ein derartiges System und diskutieren dann die Erfahrungen, die wir bei der Entwicklung und beim Einsatz der Hypertext-Maschine HyperBase gemacht haben.
