Abstract

Publishing is a distributed process characterized by the cooperation of different experts involved in the publishing process. Today, these experts use dedicated systems and tools to fulfill their tasks. Incompatibility between these tools often restrains efficient cooperation. For improving today’s publishing situation a key issue is to alleviate these incompatibility problems. In addition, the publication of electronic documents demands enhanced support from publishing tools and imposes new challenges on hypertext technology.
