The Nonlinear Nature of Fuzzy Control

Part of the book series: Informatik aktuell ((INFORMAT))

Abstract

Bridging the gap between fuzzy and conventional control techniques requires a way to relate results from the both disciplines to each other. This can be done by considering fuzzy logic based rules as a way to describe a nonlinear mapping. This point-of-view results in parameter recommendations, insight in fuzzy systems, and more efficient fuzzy controller implementations. Also, the non-fuzzy part of the fuzzy controller is discussed, as well as evaluation of nonlinear controllers in general.
