Zusammenfassung
Im RACE1-Projekt MCPR (R1038) wird eine System-Architektur zur Kommunikation, Verarbeitung und Repräsentation multimedialer Information entwickelt. Relevante Technologien und Methoden werden hierbei eingesetzt. HyperMedia dient als Konzept zur Integration und Verarbeitung von Informationstypen wie Text, Grafik, Bild, Video und Audio. Der Zugriff auf verteilte multimediale Information erfordert die Leistungsfähigkeit eines integrierten Breitband Kommunikationsnetzes (IBCN). Ziel des Projektes ist die Breitbandkommunikation mit der heutigen Workstation- und Videotechnologie zu integrieren, indem eine Architektur (Hardware und Software) für hypermediale Applikationen entwickelt wird, die besonders die Anforderungen des Benutzers berücksichtigt. Für den Zugriff auf die Informationsdatenbank wird eine Kombination von formaler Anfrage und Browsing möglich sein.
