What is the Right Specification/Design/Implementation Paradigm for Real-Time Applications?

  • Conference paper

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((NATO ASI F,volume 127))

Abstract

The aim of this short paper is to set out the author’s views on the issues which must be addressed by a real-time systems specification, design and implementation method. This is a very broad topic, so the main focus is on timing issues, and on the overall specification process. More specifically the paper sets out views on how specifications are, or should be, derived progressively from high level requirements, and considers the nature of systems architectures, which defines both the needs for high level design specification, and the constraints on implementation.
