Zusammenfassung

Die effiziente Verwaltung großer Mengen multimedialer Bürodokumente ist das Ziel des Dokumentenablagesystems MULTOS. Zu diesem Zweck wurde ein konzeptuelles Modell zur Beschreibung der Semantik von Dokumenten entwickelt, das die Grundlage für die inhaltsorientierte Anfragesprache wie auch für Zugriffsstrukturen des Ablagesystems bildet. Die Architektur folgt dem Client-Server-Ansatz, wobei zwischen einem Server für änderbare Dokumente (Gruppenarchiv) einerseits und einem Server für stabile Dokumente (Langzeitarchiv) unter Verwendung optischer Speicherplatten andererseits unterschieden wird. Der Beitrag gibt einen überblick über den Stand des MULTOS-Projekts nach Ablauf der ersten Hälfte der Laufzeit.
