Analysis of Business Process Innovation Using Outsourcing

Abstract

Innovative change of business processes is an important concern for both service and manufacturing industries to achieve more sustainable businesses corresponding to rapid changes and globalization of the world economy. This paper presents a discussion of how companies can use outsourcing for business process innovation. We conducted a questionnaire survey targeting business managers in Japan and the U.S. It also analyzes best practices and challenges related to this issue through interviews with BPO vendor companies and user companies in both countries. Finally, the classification of business process innovation using outsourcing it discussed from the viewpoint of a value creation model.
