Abstract

Digital mammography is an emerging technology that offers many potential advantages for the early detection of breast cancer. Since the commercial introduction several years ago, more than a thousand small field digital imaging systems have been installed in hospital centers all over the world. For minimally invasive procedures, these small-field digital systems have gained widespread acceptance as the preferred imaging means.
