Abstract

WWW technologies provide great facilities for online learning environments but cannot address the problem of the feeling of being alone due to the lack of mechanisms to support awareness to facilitate collaborative learning. In addition, a number of interesting research questions, such as how to deal with different users’ needs about awareness and how to cope with changing interests also need to be answered. This paper introduces a framework built in a multi-agent learning environment that helps learners acquire awareness information based on their needs and changing interests. This framework also provides a platform for investigating concerns over user privacy caused by awareness technologies.
