Abstract

A Novel Differential Dipoles Frequency Reconfigurable Antenna is proposed in this letter. The antenna consists of a pair of half-wave dipoles which are connected in parallel through a coplanar stripline, and a rectangular ground with a “H” shape slot on the center and four small rectangular cuts on four angles. In order to achieve the frequency reconfigurable characteristic, four PIN diodes are placed on the four ends of the dipoles, the current path can be controlled by the On or Off state of these PIN diodes. The effect of switch configuration either at On or Off state were studied. Simulation and measurement results show that the proposed antenna can operate at 2.60 GHz and 3.50 GHz bands. Good agreement between simulation and measurement results is achieved. The proposed antenna has compact size and can be fabricated easily and very suitable to be integrated with RF front-end circuits.
