Abstract

The system level design of a flexible chip set for real time motion estimation for TV and HDTV systems utilizing the blockmatching algorithm is presented. Special emphasis is given to minimize the effort (volume/cost) on board level and the resulting system level considerations. A high level of system integration has been achieved, usually only external RAMs and FIFOs without any glue logic are required for a complete system.
