Abstract
This paper deals with propagation modelling for GSM-system performance estimation in urban micro-cells (transmitting antenna below the roofs’ level) at 900 MHz. First we recall a simple relation between GSM average bit error rate (ber) and wideband fast fading distribution laws. We then analyse the fast fading statistics over a gsm bandwidth from wideband power measurements. We proved it to well fit to the Nakagami distribution in most cases. At last we derive curves for average performance of gsm from the estimated m-parameters of the Nakagami distribution function which can be useful for a coverage quality prediction model and network planning. The cases of line of sight and non line of sight propagation were analysed separatelly.
