Abstract

With the aim of providing tools and methodology for autonomous learning, the CAFIM has decided to produce prototypes of hypermedia exercises with progressive help and experiments in a virtual laboratory. Two prototypes are described, respectively in mathematics and physics. In these exercises, the learner is guided toward the answer by progressive help, and has to handle a simulator. An outcome allows him to evaluate his understanding and his know-how about the tested competence.

The properties shared by prototypes represent the structure of a new model of exercise. It is built up by an object oriented approach. We described this model by the component objects, the associated metaphors and the pedagogic steps for the learner.

In order to increase the productivity of the teachers, we design GENEVAL, a generator of autoevaluation exercises, according to the model we defined above. The realisation of this generator is the contribution of the CAFIM to the European ARIADNE project.
