Abstract

This paper proposes the knowledge acquisition idea to create new machine tool specifications by case-based reasoning and using the expert system assisting production line design. This proposal is the algorithm proceeding case-based reasoning under the frame work of hypothetical reasoning. In this algorithm, both the knowledge concerning machine tools and the meta knowledge with frame knowledge representations are expressed. A new machine tool knowledge is acquired by analogy as a frame knowledge expressions. This algorithm is programmed with LISP.
