Abstract

Adaptive computing systems are often really only coefficiant adjustment systems. With the advent of ReConfigurable technology represented by FPGAs, architecturally adaptivity is now possible. Alternative structures can be dynamically changed to suit new operational needs. The step beyond that is the more demanding on-the-fly reconfigurability, which is now possible with partially reconfigurable FPGAs. These structures are amenable to the implementation of low level hardware based intelligent agent processing in the form of rule based or fuzzy logic hardware/software control. This is an enabling technology for evolvable hardware control through adaptive upgrading of the rule base or fuzzy logic constraints.
