Abstract
A serial code for 2D seismic depth migration has been ported to a parallel platform. Only small modifications of the serial code was necessary. The porting was done using portable parallel primitives, such that the same code can be run on a number of parallel and serial machines. The computing time scales well with the number of processors on an Intel Paragon. The result shows that 32 processors on the Paragon machine are about 10 times faster than an IBM RS6000/580 workstation, and 25 times faster than a SUN Sparc 10 workstation.
