Abstract
A novel concept for fast prototyping of embedded systems is presented. This concept combines utilization of dedicated configurable hardware blocks, a programmable processor core, and a general purpose Field Programmable Circuit Board as an implementation platform. The use of programmable and reconfigurable components enables flexible partitioning and development of the system functions as well as realistic testing of the system prototype. In this paper, we introduce one possible solution how to combine a rack of several DSP boards with FPGAs including I/O FPGAs for protocol handling and Field Programmable Interconnection Circuits for handling the routing between other components.
