Abstract
In the paper we survey research results of the Database Research Group at Charles University Prague during last 10 years. Its activities have been focused mainly on applying a functional approach to conceptual modelling and modelling of objects via relational databases. The former research direction influenced also an approach to a formalization of object-oriented models and, recently, OLAP and data warehouses modelling. The latter research concerned a persistence of objects and a study, how to implant high-level query capabilities in C++. In the context of the ADOORE project, a practical implementation — a general library (GENLIB) is now at disposal, where objects are stored in a relational database. To enhance queering objects, high-level query capabilities are possible.
