Abstract

The impact of Information Technology has proliferated the development and uptake of Telecommunication, Compunetic (Computer and Networking) and Simulation technologies. The accessibility and interoperability of (Tele-)medical systems, performing Biomedical and Biomechanical applications, is one of the grand challenges for future healthcare. A new market is being developed dealing in Telemedical technologies. To support the integrated development of such an International Telemedical Information Society (ITIS), a supportive community of web-services has been identified and being setup. This paper presents the framework and building blocks of the emerging Virtual Medical Worlds.
